An Introduction to Bedale Ladies’ Section
Bedale currently has approximately 60 lady members with handicaps ranging from 4 to 36. Every assistance will be available to those ladies who join and have yet to attain a handicap.
The Lady Captain, Lady Vice-Captain and their Ladies’ Committee run the Ladies’ Section, organising the Club competitions, and monthly medals – most of which take place on WEDNESDAYS. However, there are some working ladies who play their medals, winter stablefords and trophy competitions at weekends.
The Ladies’ Section is very friendly and one member of the Committee is tasked with helping new members, introducing them to lady members and organising games, thus ensuring and easing into the fold. Once you have completed THREE score cards marked by someone with an active handicap, you will be given a handicap of 36 if you are a beginner.
We run a system where some competitions partners are drawn from an
entry list which ensures integration of the players and no-one is left to find a partner. For the competitions which are not drawn, you may ask someone to play with you, or put your name down and someone will usually put their name against yours. The Ladies’ Competition
Secretary will assist in finding you a partner if you are unable to do so.
Our Ladies’ Section is becoming well-known for their baking skills, providing delicious refreshments at the Half-way
House on Ladies’ Open Days etc. and if you have such culinary skills, your contribution on these occasions would be much appreciated.
The Club has a thriving social calendar throughout the year, with Jazz Nights, Cabaret and Tribute Nights, themed Dining Nights, and Quiz Nights culminating in the Captains’ DinnerDance marking the end of their Captaincy year.
We hope you will consider joining us, and assure you of a very warm welcome.
